SouthHills Church is affiliated with the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel and was established in September of 2004.
As founding pastor, Shannon Kearney and her husband, Mike, began the church following her 13-year service as an associate pastor and counselor at Eugene Faith Center. With a heart drawn toward the South Eugene area, she and a group of 60 people began a prayerful search for a meeting location. The group settled on the 70-acre campus of Oak Hill School--where we continue to meet each Sunday...Then, and now, requiring a team of faithful volunteers to transform the school's gymnasium into a place of worship.
In time, the vision and characteristics of the church began to emerge and other ministries and programs were established as God stirred up passion and vision for various needs within the fellowship. Though SouthHills presently does not use a church office or universal meeting space during the week, the church gathers for informal and formal Bible studies, events, small groups and other meetings which are held in various coffee shops, restaurants, churches and homes throughout the greater Eugene/Springfield area.
Also integral to our values, SouthHills continues to initiate numerous events for community outreach and support: free car washes, children's festivities in the park, events providing meals and resources for those in need...All in the hope of expressing, through our actions, that Jesus loves all people.
SouthHills continues to be a fellowship of people desiring to learn and grow, in a faith-filled journey, as disciples of Jesus Christ. We welcome all people with the love expressed through the life of Jesus and the hope of His message to the world. We are committed to cultivating a community that is connecting with God, loving one another and embracing opportunities to serve the world around us.
